Silhouettes

I adore this beautiful silhouette paper cut-out by artist Rob Ryan. The images from his book “This Is for You”, are so inspiring. You can see more of his work at http://rob-ryan.blogspot.com/

A Day at the Races

Thanks so much to the beautiful Lisa Higgins and Helen McNulty for modelling my hats on Ladies Day at Leopardstown races last Sunday. The hats worn by the entrants in the “Best Dressed” competition were inspiring- not surprising since Philip Treacy was one of the judges. It was a great excuse to get dolled up and we even won a few quid on the horses!

China Girl

I just spotted these amazing bangles designed by Lindsay Pemberton from New Zealand. They’re made from recycled old china tea-cups. Her collection also includes brooches made from saucers and pendants made from cup handles. Very clever and very beautiful!

The owls are not what they seem...

I spotted this amazing owl mobile while visiting Aleks and Janita from the band Aleks & the Ramps in Melbourne recently.

The birds are obviously a favourite of Janita’s. Her other band goes by the name Denim Owl. (but then who wouldn’t be a fan of a creature who can see in the dark and turn their head 360 degrees?)

I'm working on my own owl inspired creations at the moment and will have some photos soon.

Also on the topic of owls…

Frankie Magazine

I discovered this magazine on a recent trip to Australia. (Thanks sis!)

It’s a women’s magazine actually worth reading, with articles on art, fashion, craft and music as well as the odd knitting pattern and recipe. All of this and not one mention of dieting techniques or plastic surgery!

I’m trying to decide whether I can afford the $125.50 (€80 aprox) for a year’s subscription and delivery to Ireland, but until then I’ll have to make do with their website.
